Congratulations newlyweds Emily and Adam

We LOVE hearing from our brides about their weddings and the experiences they've had at Dotty Bridal. Here, Emily shares her story, describing her magical journey and how she knew she had found her dream dress.

Tell us about your experience at Dotty Bridal.

I think picking my wedding dress was one of the things that I was most nervous about when it came to my wedding. I was worried that I wouldn't find a dress that would suit me, wouldn't find a dress that I felt like a bride in. I didn't need to be nervous though from the second I walked into Dotty's I felt comfortable, we were shown to our changing room and settled in. I think this was then my favourite bit, Sophie who was looking after me took me downstairs alone and asked me to pick one of each style of dress from ballgown to fitted and each one was my choice that wasn't influenced by anyone else. This was perfect as it meant I knew which style suited me and which didn't and then I could pick more from the style that suited my body type and made me feel comfortable and like a bride. Safe to say my experience at Dotty was second to none, and everyone who has gotten engaged after me I have recommended Dotty to them as you are guaranteed to find your wedding dress.

Did you go for the dress you were originally wanting or another design?

I didn't end up with the dress I originally wanted. I though I wanted a lace dress that was quite fitted, but after trying a few of them on they didn't suit me and I felt like the dress was wearing me rather than I was wearing the dress. As we were travelling to Dotty's in the car my sister looked on Dotty's Instagram and found the dress that would end up becoming my wedding dress but it was nothing like anything I had ever seen and it was a little out of the budget I had set myself for a wedding dress so I wasn't even going to contemplate trying it on.

Why did you choose the dress you did?

I thought I had found my dress and it was one that was within my budget, but my mum told me to just try on the dress I had seen on Instagram just so I knew if it suited me or not as I could have tried it on and it didn't suit me at all. However, as soon as I put it on I just knew it was my wedding dress and that I have found my perfect dress, it suited my venue perfectly and was perfect for the venue that I was getting married at. I honestly couldn't have found a better dress. Just to be sure Sophie asked me to try back on the other dress I has been considering and when I put that one back on it no longer felt like the right dress, even though it was slightly more expensive the other dress was my wedding dress. I wanted to feel like a fairy tale woodland princess and my dress ticked every box I had dreamed about for my wedding day.

How did it make you feel and how did you know it was the one?

I think I have answered this question in the question above. It made me feel like a princess my dress and I felt like the bride I had envisioned and I couldn't have found a more perfect dress. When making decisions about my wedding I had come up with a way of knowing when something was the one - I would cry. I cried when I found my wedding venue, cried at my aisle song, cried at my first dance song and I cried when I saw myself in that dress and if I started to well up I knew it was perfect for my wedding.

Tell us about your wedding day? Where you got married any the styling?

Ever since I was little I have always wanted an outdoor woodland wedding it's always how I envisioned my wedding risky in England. We got married at Royal Forest Wedding Venue in South Derbyshire and I couldn't have picked a better venue it was outdoor and in a forest but the way they have designed it, it didn't matter if it rained. It actually made it more magical because you could hear the rain in the trees but on our wedding day we honestly couldn't have asked for better weather. We wanted quite a rustic looking wedding, so we went for colours of rust, cream and forest green and all our signs were made out of burnt wood that we made ourselves. Everything went perfectly, we made a 'walk our story' as well which guests could read as they walked into the venue it was a bride description of the story of how we met. Absolutely nothing went wrong our wedding day, we couldn't have asked for anything better and if I could do it all again I absolutely would.

Any advice to future brides

Go with your gut, and enjoy the process. A lot of people will say to you it's just one day you are doing this for just one day but the truth is to other people it's one day, but to you and the people you are planning your wedding with it's all the things before, all the planning all the decorating that are part of your day and the memories that make your day. So enjoy the planning process, try not to be too overwhelmed by it all you only get to do it once so above all make sure you enjoy it.

Hope these answers are okay and make sense, I've also included some more photos as I think one of them really shows off how incredible my dress was.

Thanks for everything,

Emily xx
