Bride Spotlight: From Wild Card to The One

The moment she stepped back into the gown, everything clicked.

Every bride's dress journey is unique, and for this beautiful Dotty Bridal bride, it was a story of trusting her instincts, staying open-minded, and ultimately finding the dress she had always imagined herself wearing.

A Warm Welcome at Dotty Bridal

Having followed Dotty Bridal on Instagram for some time, Kimberly already knew it was one of the stores she wanted to visit when searching for her wedding dress. What immediately stood out to her was how personal the experience felt from the very beginning.

The store's welcoming atmosphere, stylish interiors, and beautifully designed fitting rooms instantly put her at ease. During her appointment, she was given the option of either letting her stylist select dresses based on the inspiration she had saved to her online portal or browsing the rails herself. Having that flexibility allowed her to trust her instincts and explore the styles that felt right for her.

Most importantly, ‘the entire experience felt relaxed and natural. There was no pressure to make a decision, allowing me to truly enjoy every moment of the process.’

The Dress Journey: From Inspiration to Reality

Like many brides, she spent plenty of time gathering inspiration after getting engaged. Throughout the early stages of planning, she regularly shared dress ideas with her maid of honour and, interestingly, many of them were Justin Alexander designs.

Before visiting Dotty Bridal, she had attended another bridal appointment and tried on a variety of silhouettes to help narrow down her preferences. While the experience helped her learn more about what she liked, she left feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. At the time, she believed a fit-and-flare silhouette was the style she wanted.

However, when her maid of honour later revisited the inspiration photos she had originally shared, a clear pattern emerged. Almost all of the dresses she had saved were trumpet or fishtail styles by Justin Alexander. Looking back, it seemed her dream dress style had been there all along.

The Dress That Surprised Her Most

Although she had entered dress shopping with an open mind, the gown she eventually chose was exactly the kind of dress both she and her mum had always imagined she would wear.

Her chosen gown was Egan by Justin Alexander.

Ironically, it was something of a wildcard choice. Up until that point, she had been drawn towards heavily embellished gowns with lots of sparkle and statement detailing. While Egan featured beautiful lace and intricate beading, the details were much more subtle and seamlessly woven into the design.

When she first spotted the dress on the rail, it wasn't one that immediately stood out. In fact, it was more of a spontaneous choice; one of those dresses that simply deserved a chance.

The moment she tried it on, however, everything changed.

She remembers being genuinely surprised by how much she loved it. The gown had everything she had been searching for: beautiful lace, delicate beading, a stunning low back and an incredible train. It ticked every box while still feeling completely different from what she had expected.

Saying "Yes" to the Dress

Like many brides, she had always imagined there would be a magical moment when she instantly knew she had found "the one." Yet after trying on several dresses, that feeling hadn't quite arrived.

Eventually, she asked to try Egan on one more time.

The moment she stepped back into the gown, everything clicked.

All the emotions she had been waiting for suddenly appeared, and she knew without any doubt that this was her dress. It was the moment she had been hoping for all along; and it even brought tears to her eyes.

What makes her dress even more special is its uniqueness. More than a year and a half later, she still hasn't seen another bride wearing the same gown, making it feel even more personal and memorable.

A Wedding Day Filled with Love

When the wedding day finally arrived, it was everything she and Adam had dreamed of and more.

Every moment felt magical, but the speeches remain one of the standout memories from the day. While speeches are often something couples worry about, each one was heartfelt, sincere and perfectly reflected what they wanted their celebration to represent.

They made a conscious effort to ensure everyone who mattered most to them felt included in the day, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth and love.

One comment from a guest has stayed with them ever since:

"This wedding has been so full of love. I've never been to a wedding that has had so much love in the room for the bride and groom."

That First Look Down the Aisle

One of the most unforgettable moments of the wedding was seeing Adam for the first time.

As their eyes met down the aisle, everything else seemed to disappear. Adam is not someone who often wears his emotions on his sleeve, but this was one of those rare occasions where he couldn't hide how he felt.

She could see tears welling in his eyes; a sight she had only witnessed a handful of times throughout their ten years together.

It was one of those moments that perfectly captures what so many couples describe: when your eyes meet, the rest of the room simply melts away. In that instant, all she could think about was the fact that she was moments away from becoming his wife.

Advice for Future Brides

Reflecting on her own experience, her biggest piece of advice for future brides is to do some research before starting their dress search. Having an idea of the styles they like and those they don't, can help make the process feel less overwhelming.

At the same time, she encourages brides to remain open-minded. Sometimes the dress that doesn't immediately stand out is the one that ends up stealing your heart.

She also believes that choosing the right people to accompany you is an important part of the experience. Surrounding yourself with supportive people who will empower your decisions can make all the difference.

After all, it's your dress, your wedding and your moment.

Most importantly, she recommends sharing the experience with people who will remain part of your life for years to come, because finding your wedding dress is a memory you'll treasure forever.
