Bride Spotlight: From Black and White to Vivid Colour

As Pride Month gives us the opportunity to celebrate love, authenticity, and the diverse journeys that bring us to our happiest moments, we're honoured to share the story of one of our beautiful Dotty brides. 

For this bride, finding her wedding dress was about so much more than choosing a gown. It was about embracing a dream she never thought she would get to live. 

Finding the Dress When You Least Expect It 

When she first stepped through the doors of Dotty Bridal, she already had an idea of what she was looking for. She imagined something simple and understated for her second wedding dress. 

"I was picturing something simple and I came away with a Justin Alexander gown and loved it sooooo much! I felt like a princess." 

Having already seen the gown online, she assumed she would end up choosing something smaller and less dramatic. Instead, she discovered that sometimes the dresses we least expect are the ones that feel most like us. 

"Turns out I needed two ball gowns for my wedding! I transitioned at 27, so I feel like I was making up for lost time." 

And what better reason is there to embrace a princess moment?

Held at the beautiful Old Woollen, the celebration was a vibrant reflection of the couple's personalities and love story. 

Guests enjoyed unforgettable entertainment from drag performer Betty Bangz, alongside glitter face paint, indoor fireworks and glow sticks. 

"It was basically a Pride festival mixed with a wedding!" 

The result was a joyful, colourful celebration where everyone was encouraged to be themselves and celebrate love in all its forms. 

The Moment He Saw the Dress 

One of the most anticipated moments of any wedding day is seeing your partner's reaction for the first time. 

For this bride, it was a moment she'll never forget. 

"He mouthed 'WOW' to me." And "He actually preferred my second dress from Dotty!" 

Advice for Future Brides 

Having experienced the excitement, nerves and emotions that come with wedding dress shopping, she has some simple but powerful advice for brides beginning their own journey. 

"Go in with an open mind and if something catches your eye, try it on!" 

Sometimes the dress you fall in love with isn't the one you imagined at all. 

What Pride Month Means 

As we celebrate Pride Month, her story is a beautiful reminder of why visibility and inclusion matter. 

"Pride month is a chance to celebrate our love and diversity, a chance to fight for equality and celebrate each other." 

When asked what she is most proud of when she looks back on her journey to becoming a bride, her answer is incredibly moving. 

"I never thought I'd get the chance to be a bride, so every moment was a dream come true for me." 

A Message to Anyone Struggling to Live Authentically 

Perhaps the most powerful part of her story is the message she wants to share with others who may still be finding their way. 

"It took me a long time to accept my true self, but I promise you this: once you do, life goes from black and white to vivid colour. Be proud, be loud, be you."
