Bride Spotlight: A Journey of Confidence, Trust and Finding the Perfect Dress

Every bride's journey to finding "the one" is unique, and for this Dotty Bridal bride, it came with an added layer of uncertainty. Around the same time, she began planning her wedding; she discovered she was pregnant. Suddenly, shopping for a wedding dress felt a little more daunting, as she had no idea how her body would change between her appointment and the big day. 

Having always been petite, she knew exactly what she didn't want. A dramatic ball gown or heavily embellished dress would overwhelm her frame, so she set out in search of something sophisticated, elegant and timeless. Clean lines, beautiful structure and understated design were at the top of her wish list, while sparkles, lace and intricate beading were firmly off the table. 

As one of our original Dotty Bridal brides from our Holmfirth days, she had already fallen in love with a dress before stepping through our doors. After spotting the gown on our website, Dotty Bridal became the first, and only bridal boutique she visited. 

The dress she couldn't stop thinking about was Alba by Justin Alexander. 

Like many brides, however, her first reaction wasn't quite what she expected. Having admired the gown online, she had built up a picture in her mind of how it would look and feel. When she first stepped into the dress, she admits she felt slightly underwhelmed. 

With Hayley's encouragement, she spent time exploring other styles and silhouettes, trying on six or seven gowns altogether. While each dress had something to offer, none could compete with the one she had originally fallen in love with. Time and again, her thoughts drifted back to the Alba gown. 

When she stepped into it for a second time, everything changed. 

The feeling she'd heard other brides talk about suddenly arrived. The uncertainty disappeared, and she knew she had found her dress. 

Saying yes was a moment filled with excitement, relief, and a few nerves, particularly when it came to ordering the correct size. With a baby on the way and so many changes ahead, trusting the process felt like a leap of faith. But as she later discovered, the Dotty team got it exactly right, and the fit was perfect. 

More than anything, choosing her dress gave her a sense of relief. One of the biggest tasks on the wedding planning checklist was complete, allowing her to focus on the exciting months ahead. 

Fast forward to her wedding day, just four months after welcoming her baby boy, and she felt more beautiful than she ever expected. Rather than worrying about how her body had changed, she felt confident, comfortable and completely herself in her dress. 

The reaction from her husband made the moment even more special. Seeing her walk towards him brought a tear to his eye; something she never expected from someone who isn't usually emotional. Throughout the day, he couldn't stop telling her how beautiful she looked, creating memories they'll both treasure forever. 

Her advice to future brides

Looking back on her experience, her advice to future brides is simple: keep an open mind. 

Although she arrived with a clear favourite, taking the time to try different styles helped her feel completely confident in her final decision. Had she tried her dream dress on first and not loved it, she believes she would have felt lost. Instead, exploring different options allowed her to return to her original choice with certainty, knowing it truly was the one. 

Her story is a wonderful reminder that finding the perfect wedding dress isn't always about an instant reaction. Sometimes, it's the dress you simply can't stop thinking about, the one that quietly stays in your heart until everything finally clicks into place.
