Dotty Brides Abroad: Alannah and Tom’s Idyllic Rhodes Wedding

On the 4th of May 2024, Alannah and Tom Phillips celebrated their love in the breathtaking setting of Lindos, Rhodes. The couple exchanged vows at Ktima, an incredible venue known for its relaxed atmosphere and stunning scenery. With 56 close friends and family members flying out to join them, their wedding was an intimate and perfect celebration.

Alannah had her heart set on a Madi Lane dress even before stepping into our boutique. After browsing our website, she chose the gown she wanted to try – and it was the first dress she put on during her appointment. Initially unsure, it wasn’t until she tried it on again at the end of the session that she knew it was the one. On the day Alannah felt comfortable and beautiful in her Madi Lane dress, which perfectly complemented her natural beauty and the stunning Rhodes setting.

"I knew I wanted a Madi Lane dress, and when I tried it on, I felt so comfortable and beautiful. It was everything I had imagined for our wedding in Rhodes – light, elegant, and perfect for the day. I knew it was my dress the moment I put it back on! Thank you Team Dotty for making my dream come true."

Fun Fact: A few weeks after Alannah and Tom’s wedding, Ant from Ant and Dec attended a wedding at the same venue, and Molly-Mae’s sister visited Ktima during her honeymoon. A venue as beautiful and beloved as this one certainly attracts some well-known guests!

Fun Facts About Destination Weddings

  1. Warm Weather Wins: The majority of British couples who opt for destination weddings choose warmer climates, with Mediterranean destinations like Italy, Spain, and Greece being among the most popular. This trend reflects a desire for sun-kissed ceremonies and outdoor celebrations.
  2. Best Time to Tie the Knot: Spring and early autumn are the peak seasons for destination weddings. April to June and September to October are particularly favoured for their mild temperatures and lower chances of rain, providing perfect conditions for beach and outdoor ceremonies.
  3. Intimate Gatherings: On average, destination weddings are more intimate affairs, with about 20 to 50 guests in attendance. This smaller guest list allows couples to spend more quality time with each attendee and often results in a more relaxed and personal celebration.
  4. Extended Celebrations: Destination weddings often extend beyond just one day, with couples and their guests enjoying a weekend or even a full week of festivities. Pre-wedding dinners, day-after brunches, and group activities like sightseeing or beach days are common features of these celebrations.
  5. Cost-Effective Choices: Despite what you might think, destination weddings can be more cost-effective than traditional UK weddings. With fewer guests and often all-inclusive packages, couples can enjoy a beautiful wedding without the hefty price tag often associated with local venues.
  6. Memorable Honeymoons: Many couples choose to combine their wedding and honeymoon into one seamless experience by staying on at their wedding destination. This not only saves on travel costs but also keeps the romantic momentum going without the stress of post-wedding travel.
