Crafting Meaning and Memories: The Story Behind IVES Jewellery

When Lisha launched IVES Jewellery in December 2022, it was more than just a business venture—it was a new chapter of balance, creativity, and meaning. Named after her daughter, Ivy, IVES began from her home studio in Holmfirth with a simple vision: to craft sustainable, timeless pieces that carry stories worth cherishing.

Every IVES creation—whether a delicate necklace or a pair of bespoke wedding bands—is made from recycled sterling silver or gold, reflecting Lisha’s dedication to sustainability and purpose. But IVES is more than jewellery—it’s an experience. Through her Wedding Band Service, Wedding Band Experience, and Silver Jewellery Making Workshops, Lisha invites people to create something beautiful and personal, while connecting to the process itself.

In this Q&A, Lisha shares how IVES came to life, what inspires her, and how each experience captures the heart of craftsmanship and connection.

What inspired you to start IVES Jewellery?

Lisha:
I launched IVES Jewellery in December 2022 to create a better work–life balance after becoming a mum to my daughter, Ivy. I’ve always loved jewellery—and for a long time, I’d collect stones and shells on holiday, dreaming of building this business.

In August 2022, I finally enrolled at the Cheshire School of Jewellery to learn cutting, measuring, soldering, texturing, and polishing. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it or have any talent—but after crafting my very first ring and feeling that rush of achievement, I knew I’d found something special.

My first Christmas market in November 2022 went so well that I booked more events throughout the following year. I’ve showcased IVES at markets like The Manor House, Fabulous Places, the Great Yorkshire Show, and York River Art Market, as well as smaller local gems like Society in Holmfirth, Slaithwaite, and Alty Market in Altrincham. I love meeting people in person and sharing the stories behind my pieces.

Once my website was running smoothly, I introduced custom wedding bands. My first commission was in July 2023—a couple brought family gold they wanted remade into their rings. It was such an honour to bring their story to life, and I quickly realised how special it is to play a part in someone’s big day.

In October 2024, I hosted my first silver jewellery-making workshop for small groups, guiding people through the process of creating their own ring from start to finish. It’s such a joy to see the pride on people’s faces when they hold something they’ve made themselves.

The next big step is the Wedding Band Experience, a private, relaxed session for couples to make their own rings together. It’s a chance to slow down, connect, and create something deeply meaningful before their wedding day.

What do you love most about what you do?

Lisha:
Making wedding bands. There’s something truly special about it—the process, the trust, and the connection. It begins with those initial conversations where we build a foundation of understanding. When a couple chooses me to create something they’ll wear forever, it’s an incredible honour. I value that trust deeply and love every part of the journey.

Can you tell us about the process for your Wedding Band Service?

Lisha:
Absolutely! When couples commission wedding bands with me, we meet three times to make sure everything feels just right.

First meeting:
We chat in person about their vision—style, measurements, and any sentimental details. It’s relaxed and personal, giving me a real sense of their story.

Second meeting:
I craft silver prototypes of the rings, and we meet again for a fitting. This is where they can feel the fit, texture, and thickness, making adjustments before we move into gold.

Final delivery:
When the finished bands are ready, I hand-deliver them. It’s such a joyful moment—seeing their reactions when they hold something that’s been handmade just for them.

You mentioned three unique experiences at IVES. What are they?

Yes! At IVES, there are three main experiences:

  • Silver Jewellery Making Workshop:
Perfect for groups of up to eight, where participants can make a ring, bracelet, necklace, or toe ring from recycled silver. You’ll measure, texture, and polish your own piece—and enjoy a complimentary drink as part of the relaxed creative atmosphere.
  • Wedding Band Experience:
A private session where couples craft their own (or each other’s) wedding bands in silver, which are then recreated in gold. It’s an intimate, meaningful experience that allows couples to connect in a calm, creative space before the big day.
  • Wedding Band Service:
This is my bespoke design service where I craft the couple’s wedding bands based on their vision, story, and style preferences.

Each experience reflects what IVES stands for—connection, creativity, and craftsmanship.

What advice would you give to couples preparing for their big day?

Lisha:

Make time for the two of you before the wedding—not just to plan it, but to truly connect. That’s part of what inspired the Wedding Band Experience—a chance for couples to pause, breathe, and enjoy a meaningful moment together before everything gets busy.

At its heart, IVES Jewellery is about creating something personal, sustainable, and filled with intention. Whether it’s a ring made from recycled gold or a shared experience crafting something by hand, every piece tells a story.

From her home studio in Holmfirth to bustling markets across Yorkshire, Lisha continues to shape IVES with warmth, creativity, and purpose—proving that jewellery can be so much more than adornment; it can be a reflection of life, love, and connection.
